Bluffton High School (Public)
Bluffton High School is proud to carry on the tradition of excellence that began when the school opened in 2004. Thanks to the support of its families and community, as well as the hard work of its students, faculty, and staff, BLHS is recognized statewide as a school committed to excellence in academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities for all students.
BLHS is constantly seeking new opportunities for growth and improvement, an example of which is their partnership with University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB). Through this collaborative effort, students are afforded more opportunities to earn college credits while in high school. Another example is having been selected by College Board as an AP Capstone School. Students have the opportunity to take AP Seminar and AP Research to better prepare for AP classes and college, as well as influencing their critical and analytical thinking skills as they explore real world issues.
These new opportunities fit well with the values at the core of the success at Bluffton High School. It's mission is simple – to improve academic achievement and to prepare students for the complex challenges they will face in an ever-changing global society.

May River High School (Public)
May River opened in 2016 serving students in the Bluffton community. Their mantra from the onset has been and continues to be “Tradition Starts Today.” Though proud of the “traditions” already established, work in creating the foundation for traditions is far from complete.
There have already been many successes: fifty-one “completers” in Career and Technology Education in 2018, seven accepted into the Governor’s School and two National Merit Scholars. May River HS is in the top three in the county in all areas of end of course testing. It eads the county by a wide margin in U.S. History, won the Academic World Quest and competed nationally and was second in the state in the Science Olympiad.
Students in welding and automotive were 13th and 6th in national competition, respectively. The athletic program finished the year in 2nd place in the state Carlisle Cup standings, which measures overall competitiveness for all state high school athletic programs. The band received its first ever Superior rating, dominated the “All County” band, had an “All State” representative and won multiple marching events.

Heritage Academy (Private)
Since 1993, Heritage Academy has assisted aspiring young men and women to create dreams, make them real, and achieve new worlds for themselves. Nestled a short sprint from the Atlantic Ocean on the small, barrier island of Hilton Head off of the coast of South Carolina, Heritage Academy is a refuge for teenagers with an extracurricular passion.
There are three focus areas at Heritage Academy: students commit to a passion in athletics, academics and research, or the visual and performing arts. Students in all these areas share the same qualities: a desire to excel and stand out in their field, and the willingness to work as hard as they can to achieve this goal. Along with our school community’s common goals, we have tremendous diversity in our student body. Our local students attend classes with students from many countries and states.
At Heritage Academy, we believe that a small caring community of diverse, highly-trained professionals working with students who seek to develop a passion in life creates the ideal learning environment. Young people have curious minds, tremendous energy, innate talent and incredible spirit all waiting to be awakened and nurtured. We respect research suggesting that students can reach full potential in analytical thinking, creative expression, and civic responsibility only when the walls of the traditional classroom are extended beyond the school facility. Whether in the classroom or pursuing extracurricular passions, our students are actively engaged in learning as accomplished scholars, artists and athletes.
